Defit shunts
A shunt valve is a mechanical device that regulates the flow. Flow control is achieved through simple fluid dynamics, which requires the pressure of the fluid to drop as it passes through obstructions such as orifices and to change the cross-sectional area of the flow deliberately placed in the flow passage.
Defit Ultra Small shunts are used in infants and young children in the treatment of hydrocephalus where controlled drainage of CSF is required.
