The Puritan Bennett™ 980 ventilator provides a unique ventilation assist feature that, in the event of certain system failures, will continue to provide ventilation support as close to the set point as possible and has an integrated expiratory filtering system.

Advanced synchronization tools help clinicians customize the device to meet the unique needs of their patients and help provide the right level of support throughout the breath.

FUNCTIONS

Graphs can be scaled and enlarged to full screen to improve visibility.

Using the pause button, you can pause the screen and view the last 60 seconds of patient data.

In situations where you cannot be directly in front of the screen, or during training situations where there are several people in the room, a screen with larger fonts can provide better visibility of patient data.

Screen configurability

• Several configuration options allow you to see as much information as you need.
• The patient data in the top banner can be customized according to the needs of the patient or according to your workflow document. Additional patient data is accessed by scrolling from right to left in the upper right corner. Patient data cells can be left blank to reduce the amount of visible patient data.

The touch screen also offers easy access to five graph and loop options.

Unique ventilation function

• In the event of certain system failures, the ventilator will continue to provide ventilatory support as close to the setpoint as possible. The ventilation assist feature is unique to the Puritan Bennett™ 980 Ventilator and can help improve the safety of ventilated patients in the event of certain system failures.

Standby mode

• Standby mode pauses ventilation and saves settings when the patient is offline; automatically detects the patient when reconnecting; and automatically resumes ventilation without the need to press additional buttons.

Status display

• An additional screen is located on the breath supply unit (BDU) that provides redundant verification of ventilator operation.

Hot Swap Batteries

• The Puritan Bennett™ 980 Ventilator holds up to two batteries (up to four with compressor installed).
• Batteries can be changed or replaced without shutting down the ventilator and interrupting patient ventilation.

Expiratory Filtration System

Puritan Bennett™ 840 and 980 ventilators feature special exhalation filters to prevent infection and contamination. These custom filters have the following features:

• Minimum 99.97% filtration efficiency.
• Meets CDC requirements for N100 filtering equivalency.

Digital communication board

• The digital communications board provides multiple USB ports for connecting to external storage devices and an HDMI output port that can be used for external touch screen projection.

Connecting to an EMR system

• The Puritan Bennett™ 980 Ventilator has several options for connecting to external data systems.

Proximal flow sensor

• The proximal flow sensor measures flow, pressure and tidal volume directly at the patient in neonatal applications.
